Dutch collector Bert Kreuk has bought the 48 star flag and has lent it permanently to the National Military Museum. The American flag flew on the stern of the boat that carried the first U.S. troops to Utah Beach on D-Day in june 1944. On September 15, 2016 the flag was greeted by an honour guard and handed over to the former Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert. The flag will be displayed as part of a by ATELIER ALKEMA designed exhibition devoted to the D-Day landings.
